Fanart: Hellboy
– Avik Kumar Maitra has been an academic and professional drifter. He presently directs art in an ad agency, and illustrates on the side. Hooked to comics since age 2, his favourite characters are Batman and Hellboy. His main pastime is struggling between ambition and laziness.
Titled ‘Hellboy: Ghosts of Siberia’, this is a tribute to both Mike Mignola (for the character) and Frank Frazetta (for the style). Painted with gouache or poster colour on paper, laid thick to get an opaque effect, the alchemy symbols on the border were drawn with a silver marker.
