Pop Cult’s Most Underrated Superheroes!
#3 Shadowcat
Kitty Pryde
While some Marvel women are overwhelming, some are over-sexualized and some, like innocent Kitty here, are looked past.
Firstly her intangibility has been underestimated. Her phasing can distort physics to destroy things she goes through. It allows her to walk on air and water. And most interestingly it makes her mind intangible to telepaths. Another bonus is, she can turn other object intangible (up to planet sized objects).
Contrary to popular belief Shadowcat does not remain a teen with problems. She matures into a strong individual and a qualified teacher at the Xavier’s institute.
Places of Respect: Astonishing X-Men (Joss Whedon run), Days of Future Past, Uncanny X-Men (Chris Claremont runs)
#2 Mr. Fantastic
Reed Richards
So when then nerd finally gets the hot girl, people all over the world plain ignore him. Sure he is a tad bit garrulous about all things science and sure, when you have a brother in law who is literally flaming hot, you tend to be forced out of the limelight. But really, when you do think about it, you realize that he is the obvious brain.
And Reed takes the superabilities of his brain rather seriously. He can wilfully increase the density of his body for defence. Form cushions, chutes, slings and gliders. Interestingly he can even change appearance by stretching his skin. Reed is also a master infiltrator. On one occasion he even bends his mind to resemble that of Xavier’s.
His intelligence is the more than any other human in any other universe or dimension, even Tony Stark. So if you are looking for a tactician, rogue or someone whose defence is impressive, Mister Fantastic here is who you pick for your dream team.
Places of Respect: Ultimate FF, Fantastic Four: 570-588, 600-611 (Jonathan Hickman run)
#1 Cyclops
Scott Summers
He is 2nd in command and X-Man on this list. Superman and Cap Am enjoy respect as leaders, but he doesn’t. You’d say, “The vast popularity of his colleague, Wolverine, is bad for his PR.” However, they have Batman and Ironman respectively to match with. And they don’t face insubordination.
